This book sets in motion the core of one player.....The core of, lets give an example of a basketball team. 5 players on the court at one time--each being the ultimate teammate sets the tone for the whole team to thrive; no me, it is WE. The author whom I just think writes so well on this topic and many others, explains what it takes for each member of a team to be the ultimate teammate. It is displaying and engaging our principles as character, hitting the books with others through our own actions--If I am hitting the books, sleeping well, staying away from late night activities on a school night---I the teammate will show others through my actions that I am putting others first through my characteristics. The ultimate teammate is more than on the court, it is believing in others when they don't, it is being there during a crisis when a fellow player needs your advice or opinion on a matter. The ultimate teammate is trusting a coach, trusting a teacher, trusting a fellow student. The ultimate teammate is there for guidance and a shoulder to lean on--it is understanding our role of the team and giving our best to achieve greatness our role demands. I really enjoy the take on this book by the author--one who has been in the trenches and helps lead others. Pat has been in team environments his whole life; from the Army, to college baseball, pro baseball, GM of a baseball team,GM of basketball teams and on and on it goes. This book will allow you to develop or work on a few skills to lift your teammate skills to the highest of your ability. If you are a high-school coach I recommend this book, CEO-can't ask for a better book to guide your staff, teacher--WOW! this will guide you and set you up for success. There are so many stories in this book about coaches, business, players--but the key note is one player, one person can have a powerful impact on a whole staff as noted in this book--outstanding book, written with others in mind, that is leadership---that is the ultimate teammate.Product details
